About Developer Tools
This section of the handbook covers software used to build, test, ship and run other software. Each entry is laid out as a fact sheet: pricing model, supported languages and platforms, integrations, security notes and the specifications the vendor states. Profiles are drafted from the product's own website, then checked and edited field by field by the founder before anything goes live.
The page lists the products and businesses in Developer Tools and in each of its subcategories, with filters to narrow the table by the attributes you care about. Listings appear newest first by default. You can switch to sorting by community votes, and votes can never be bought. Every listing has a single main category, so a tool that spans several jobs is filed under its primary use. Start with the subcategory that matches the stage of work you are comparing, then use the filters to cut the list down.

Developer Tools: questions answered
- What belongs in Developer Tools rather than another category?
- Products whose main buyer is a developer or an engineering team and whose main job is producing, checking, deploying or running code. General business software that happens to offer an API usually belongs elsewhere. If the tool is mainly used by engineers, file it here.
- How do I choose between the subcategories?
- Pick by the stage of work the product mainly serves: connecting to services, checking quality, shipping builds, storing data, or code that is openly published. If a tool covers several stages, the main category should reflect its primary use. A paid upgrade can add more categories for $5.
- How do I get a product listed here?
- Go to /submit and paste the website address. An AI drafts the profile from that site, and you check and edit every field before it goes live. A paid launch costs $5. A free listing joins a queue of about 6-8 weeks.
- What should I compare when weighing up developer tools?
- Start with the pricing model, since usage-based, per-seat and flat plans scale differently as a team grows. Then check supported languages, integrations with your existing stack, hosting options and the security details the vendor publishes. Record the source for each claim so that you can recheck it later.
- How are listings ordered on this page?
- Newest listings appear first by default, so recent launches are easy to find. Visitors can switch to sorting by community votes instead. Votes can never be bought, and a paid launch does not change how many votes a product receives.
